Before I start my big rant, I want to note that I am not here to diss your favourite artists nor your music taste. It's just my opinion and my little internet space to share it. So no hard feelings and if you really disagree, please leave a comment saying why and I will respect it so please respect mine.
Sometimes I really do believe I was born with an old soul, I used to try to fit it in some sort of friendship groups until my secondary school when I decided 'what's the point?', 'what's so wrong about who I really am?'. Since then I mostly have spoken my mind out, I hated the pop culture since I can remember. I could never understand why artists like Gaga, Bieber, Cyrus or Minaj were so hyped about. Yes, I could hear a decent voice and potential but aren't they earning their money, fame through over-sexualising themselves and screaming out loud to the public -
Maybe it is due to the way I was brought up, the way my grandparents always told me to respect the history, without it I would have no freedom, no place for a woman. So I do, I deeply respect history, it is the reason I am here, writing my own opinion without being banned, imprisoned or being classed as a 'rebel' while really it's just a opinion!
But this post is not about me, far from it. It's about how celebrities as those previously named should think twice when they get dressed for public events, when they publicly use drugs and so on. While I have no problem with these fame filled stars doing what they do, I do feel that it should not be put out there for millions of young people to see.
Reasons for such belief is that, even though they might say 'I never said I'm a rolemodel', it doesn't take away the responsibility that you, as a personallity that chose to be in the business carry through each move that is being judged, followed and faned by young followers around the world. And the main power they carry with the title of 'celebrity' is influencing. So, if you as a individual have this power to influence the future generation, why would it be to being over-sexual, to drug abuse, to addictions?
It is no art. No true talent. We all have that, we all can get naked and become big. But if I had that power, I feel that I rather influence people to become better as human beings, to peacefulness, to being aware of the world around and within them, to ways how we as world citizens could change the whole world into something better. Less violent, less back-stabbing and cruel. But this could be a silly and naive way of thinking, but I rather think that than have a power and not even try to improve the world.
Thoughts? Do you agree or am I being a silly little girl?
